Gearing

Canopy gearing is the most common type of garage door available with a large choice of panels, offering excellent value for money.

A spring above the door provides the tension needed to help the door open and close, allowing around one third of the door to protrude from the front of the garage when open, giving it a "canopy" effect.

As all fixings are made to the frame, an up and over canopy door is very quick to install thus keeping the cost low.

This page explains the different gearing options for your garage door

Canopy/Retractable (Up & Over), Sectional and Roller

Retractable doors have springs at the side, and the door retracts backwards into the garage on horizontal runners suspended from the ceiling or the side walls.

With the full range of designs and colours available, as on the canopy doors.

These doors are very popular with those that wish automation to the variety of choices and styles that come with the up & over doors.

Sectional doors maximise the drive-through width of a garage opening, and allow your vehicle to park close to the door without obstruction, maximing driveway space .

They are made up of separate horizontal panels that retract into the garage on horizontal tracks that are suspended from the ceiling or the side walls.

They are available insulated, and can be manually operated or automated.

Roller doors are made up of separate horizontal insulated slats and rise vertically to form a compact roll which offers maximum space in the garage.

The roller shutter garage door is the most elegant garage door solutions available with vertical opening and closing and no tracking mechanism required inside the garage at all.

This provides you with more room on your driveway for parking and maximum space inside the garage.
